Your trust is important to us and this section describes how your personal information is collected, used, and shared when you visit, register and/or make a purchase from www.chaperone.online (the “Site”). In this policy, “Chaperone,” “we,” “us,” or “our,” refers to the company Chaperone that is the “Data Controller” of your personal information.

 

We may update this privacy policy from time to time in order to reflect changes to our practices or for other operational, legal or regulatory reasons. If we make changes to this Privacy Policy, we will post the revised version on our website and update the “Last updated” date at the top of this web page. Please note that this Site is not intended for individuals under the age of 18 and we do not knowingly collect any personal information directly from children under 18.

1. Data we collect from you 

 

1.1 Information you give to us

We ask for and collect the below personal information when you use our Site. Some information is necessary for the adequate provision of the service and some information you choose to give to us, allowing us to better understand your experience as a user and to improve and optimize our Site. When you communicate with our support team, when you get in touch with us via email or social media, when you choose to provide us information by filling in a form or responding to surveys, or when you update your online information, the additional information is collected and processed based on your consent and our legitimate interest.

 

1.1.1 Scientists

First name, last name, email address, date of birth, expectations for the session and rating of the session.

 

1.1.2 Career consultants

First name, last name, email address, date of birth, address, phone number, profile picture, biography, languages of action, countries of action, the willingness of doing anonymous sessions, areas of expertise, LinkedIn address, Twitter address, personal website address, and certain financial information like IBAN number to facilitate the payment service.

 

1.2 Information we automatically collect from your use of the Site.

When you visit the Site, we automatically collect certain information about your device, including information about your web browser, IP address or time zone. Additionally, as you browse our Site, we collect information about the individual web pages or products that you view, what websites or search terms referred you to the Site, and information about how you interact with the Site. We refer to this as “Device Information”, and we collect it using cookies, log files, web beacons, tags and pixels. Cookies are data files that are placed on your device or computer and often include an anonymous unique identifier. When you make a purchase or attempt to make a purchase through the Site, we collect certain payment information, including the payment instrument used, date and time, payment amount, name and expiration date of the payment instrument used, IBAN information, and billing address. This information is necessary for the adequate provision of the payment service.

 

2. How do we use your personal information

We use and process personal information to communicate with you and deliver our services, to understand and further develop our services and Site, to create and maintain a trusted and safe environment, and to provide and improve our marketing strategies.

 

3. Sharing your personal information

Chaperone does not share personal information with third parties for their own direct marketing purposes. We only share the relevant personal information with third parties that help us use your data as described in the above “How do we use your personal information” section. Those third parties include, but are not limited to, each individual consultant, Gmail, Google Analytics, MailChimp, WordPress and Jitsi. When you book a service under an Institutional Plan, we may disclose information like dates of the booking, service booked, rating of the session, and price of the service to your institution but we will not share your first name, last name, email address, date of birth, and expectations for the session. We may share aggregated information and other anonymized information for regulatory compliance, industry and market analysis, research, demographic profiling, marketing, and other business purposes. If Chaperone undertakes or is involved in any merger, acquisition, reorganization, sale of assets, bankruptcy, or insolvency event, then we may sell, transfer or share some or all of our assets. In this event, we will notify you and give you the right to request the deletion of your personal information before the data is transferred and becomes subject to a different privacy policy. Finally, we may also share your personal information to comply with applicable laws and regulations, to respond to a subpoena, search warrant or other lawful requests for information we receive, or to otherwise protect our rights.

 

4. Your rights

 

4.1 General rights

You, as a user and regardless of your residency, have the following rights:

– to be informed of what personal information we hold about you;

– to require us not to send you direct marketing communications;

– to require that we cease processing your personal information;

– to require us to correct the personal information we hold of you;

– to require us to erase your personal information;

– to request that we restrict our data processing and when our processing is based on your consent, you may withdraw that consent without affecting the lawfulness of our processing based on the consent provided before its withdrawal;

– to object, on grounds relating to your particular situation, to any of our particular processing activities where you feel this has a disproportionate impact on your rights.

 

4.2 Opt-out and retention

To withdraw consent from our direct marketing communications, you can use an opt-out link to unsubscribe or email us following the instructions above. To request to cease processing, access, object, restrict, erase or correct your personal information, you can email us following the instructions above. Please note that to receive from us the personal information we hold about you, we will ask you for a valid receipt of evidence of your identity. The requested information will be provided within one month of the request being made. If requests are complex and numerous we may extend this period up to two months. When you visit our Site, we will maintain your information for our records unless and until you ask us to delete this information. 

 

4.3 European residents

If you are a European resident we note that we are processing your information in order to carry out and deliver the service you’ve requested from us or otherwise to pursue our legitimate business interests. Additionally, your information may be transferred outside of Europe.

 

4.4 California Privacy Rights

California law permits people who are California residents to request and obtain from us, once a year and free of charge, a list of the third parties to whom we have disclosed their personal information for direct marketing purposes in the prior calendar year, as well as the type of personal information disclosed to those third parties. As mentioned above, Chaperone does not share personal information with third parties for their own direct marketing purposes but the request can be made following the instructions above.
