    Description

    I am a trained coach and experienced mentor. If you are looking to move out of academia into a new field, I can help you decide what changes you want to make and how to show potential employers that you have the skills they are looking for. I am Head of Skills at the UK Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC). BBSRC is part of UK Research and Innovation (UKRI), the government’s main funding agency for research and innovation in universities and businesses. BBSRC is responsible for the funding of bioscience projects. My role is to lead the delivery of BBSRC’s £40M annual investment in doctoral training partnerships, and develop strategies for the career development of postdoctoral and technician researchers. I have been at BBSRC since 2012, and prior to that I was a postdoc and PhD student in human and mammalian genetics. Outside of work I volunteer with youth groups and the elderly.
