As someone that went abroad to pursue a PhD in neuroscience and later on shifted to a different field, I’m excited to share my experiences & learnings with scientists navigating their careers. I have nearly 10 years of experience working in diagnostic and research labs. Throughout my career, I worked at IPATIMUP (Portugal), IBMC (Portugal), and later on at UMG (Germany) as a PhD student. I mainly focused on understanding the mechanisms underlying neurodegeneration and authored/co-authored over a dozen scientific publications. A PhD journey is always an adventure! For me, it was also eye-opening. After my PhD, I transitioned to industry and started as a Data Analyst at ZAGENO. Currently, I’m a Product Data Manager using data and my domain knowledge expertise to build a digital solution that helps scientists find the products they need. If you are curious to know more about academic labs, life through a PhD, or how much of your scientific mind/skills are transferable to the business world, I’m here to share my experience with you.
