Marta Ribeiro is an experienced Innovation & Business Development Professional. Starting in September 2019, Marta is the Head of a shared Innovation Office at IGC – Gulbenkian Foundation and ITQB – NOVA University, the first of its kind in Portugal. Part of a strategic plan to make Oeiras (Lisbon municipality) a new hub of Innovation, Marta is responsible for supporting a pipeline of translational projects and delivering target technology transfer and innovation support to both institutions. Marta has over ten years of experience in business creation, technology assessment, negotiation and management of partnerships with industry, firstly as an entrepreneur of her own spin-off, and since 2012 working for international acclaimed institutions in the UK and Spain. As Senior Business and Innovation Manager at University College London, Marta has initiated and managed strategic industrial collaborations, identified and negotiated licensing opportunities (6 and 7 figures), provided support to spin-off creation and defined innovation strategic directions for UCL Institutions. Previously to that, she coordinated the Centre for Research in Healthcare Innovation Management at IESE Business School, where she led a team of researchers working in five large European Commission projects (total budget >€17M), with a focus on market analysis and development of new business concepts and models for the implementation of health technology innovations, and before was an Innovation Manager at Hospital Clinic Barcelona. Biochemist with a PhD in Biomedical Sciences and several entrepreneurship awards; Marta always seeks and meets new challenges and hopes to help others doing the same.
