I am currently a group leader and an ERA Chair Holder at the IBMC/i3S, in Porto, Portugal. I have vast experience in research in an Academic setting. In the last 18 years I have worked in different Institutions, as well as different countries, including Portugal, Netherlands, USA, Germany and the UK. I am passionate about Science, Science communication, networking and mentoring. During the last years I have been engaged with student mentoring and career advising. I am devoted supporting junior scientists in their careers, either as a mentor or as an advisor. I am experienced in grant, manuscript and application writing. I can help you not only in career advising, but also in writing CV, motivation Letters, prepare applications for different fellowships, among other things. I am always at a distance of a click. During my PhD I have worked in the laboratory of Prof. Dr. Bruce Walker (Partners AIDS Research Center/Massachusetts General Hospital/ Harvard Medical School, Boston, USA) and in the laboratory of Dr. Luís Moita (Instituto de Medicina Molecular, Lisbon, Portugal). As a postdoc I worked in the laboratory of Prof. Dr. Stefan Kaufmann (Max Planck Institute for Infection Biology, Berlin, Germany). In 2019, I moved to the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research at the University of Oxford (Oxford, UK) as a Principal Investigator to establish and lead my own research group. Recently, in February 2022, I moved to the IBMC/i3S, University of Porto (Porto, Portugal) as a group leader and ERA Chair Holder, where I lead my own research group. Besides academia, I have extensive experience in Social enterpreneurship organizations, as founder and leader, or as an active member. I am one of the founding members of ASPPA (Association of Postgraduate Portuguese in Germany) and the first elected president, as well as one of the founding members of JAZZ'aqui (an association that envisages the promotion of Portuguese Jazz and Portuguese Jazz musicians). I have been awarded both as a Scientist and as a Social Enterpreneur. As a Scientist, I have been awarded multiple travel grants, prizes for best communications, as well as a prize for being the best Biochemistry student. As a Social Enterpreneur and a Leader, I have been granted different prizes and awards, including a Leadership Portugaleser Prize, attributed by PortugalPost, being considered among the 25 Portuguese personalities with impact in Germany in the last 25 years.
