Joana Moscoso has experience in working in the public sector (academy), private sector (deep tech company), and third sector (education/science communication field). She is the co-founder of two ventures, Chaperone and Native Scientist, an award-winning European-wide non-profit organisation that connects children and scientists to promote fair and quality science education. For 10 years she was a researcher in the field of microbiology, holding a PhD from Imperial College London (UK, 2013) and being a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellow (Portugal, 2016-2018). She is the author of 10+ international peer-reviewed publications. She also has experience in the management of professional associations, as an executive member of the European Network of Postdoctoral Associations (EU, 2018), the i3S Postdoctoral Association (Portugal, 2017), and the Association of Portuguese Researchers and Students in the UK (UK, 2012-2014). Joana’s entrepreneurial skills in science have been distinguished multiple times, including prizes from the Royal Society of Biology, Imperial College London, and MIT Innovator Under 35. Joana loves spending time with friends and around food. She dreams of having her own restaurant one day.
