Helder joined NOVA University Lisbon in 2019 to lead the NOVA Impact Office, the knowledge transfer support arm of the University, with the mission of fostering an entrepreneurial, knowledge-based and high-impact innovation ecosystem within NOVA. He is currently the Director of Research and Innovation Services at the same University, working closely with academic, industry, public sector and civic partners, developing strategic science and innovation interdisciplinary programs, and ensuring that science and value creation at NOVA go hand in hand.. Helder holds 10+ years of experience across multiple sectors and work environments, including academia, industry and government. Trained as a scientist in international leading institutions, and with a Biomedical Engineering background, Helder completed his PhD in Bioengineering under the MIT Portugal Program, after working as business controller in a Portuguese company present in 6 countries. He is a former Advisor to the Portuguese Minister of Economy for the areas of Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Bioeconomy, where he played an active role in the design and implementation of innovative public policies, such as Programa Interface and Startup Portugal. Helder loves to be involved in challenging projects, always committed to add value wherever he is and willing to inspire others doing the same.
