As a Career Advisor with extensive experience in international academic research, project management, and professional associations, I am dedicated to supporting junior scientists on their career paths. My goal is to help you craft compelling CVs and Motivation Letters, prepare for interviews, identify your strongest skills and strengths to highlight on your applications, and guide you with project and time management.
With a PhD in Biomedical Sciences, my research spaned human genetics, neurodevelopment, stem cells, and gene editing. I have gained valuable experience at the Center for Genomic Medicine, Harvard Medical School, and the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard. In 2018, I received a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Individual Fellowship from the European Commission.
I believe career management skills are vital for all scientists. As Program Manager for the CAJAL Advanced Neuroscience Training Programme, I coordinate advanced hands-on neuroscience courses. Additionally, I co-founded the Brain Gain project, offering accessible online lectures and round tables on neuroscience, reaching students from Portugal, Brazil, and Portuguese-speaking African countries. As an Invited Assistant Professor at the University of Coimbra, I mentored students through their academic endeavors. My teaching philosophy focuses on making science accessible and engaging for all. In my professional associations, including roles with the Portuguese American Postgraduate Society and the All Time GABBA Alumni Association, I understand the challenges students face and provide the support they need to succeed. As an advocate for science communication, I have participated in various media channels and organized Brain Awareness Week activities to make science accessible to the public.
My aim is to provide you with the guidance, resources, and support you need to thrive in your scientific career. Let's work together to unlock your potential and achieve your career goals.

Chaperone plays a vital role in today’s future. I witnessed firsthand how they played an instrumental role in widening the horizon of our Ph.D. students. Through a very well-structured entrepreneurial bootcamp, Chaperone consultants managed to deliver actionable knowledge that I have no doubt will help our researchers streamline more sustainable careers.
The session with Chaperone was amazing! I’ve got a lot of insights and I feel like I know more about myself and what I want to do in life! Absolutely mind blown! Thank you so much!
I had two sessions with Chaperone, one to prepare a competitive CV able to make me stand out, and another to prepare for an interview. Both sessions went really well, with the advice being clear and very useful, with an emphasis on the small things which ultimately made a big difference.
My session was very challenging and clarifying. The consultant was a very intelligent and open minded specialist and defied me to push my limits while understanding my reality, and helped me to organize my thoughts regarding my doubts, empowering me to make a clear and fundamented decision. I highly recommend Chaperone.
With Chaperone, it has been possible to tailor and deliver career support programs that match the needs of the students and researchers at Karolinska Institute. We appreciate Chaperones’ well-structured operations management, a wide range of career-development-related topics and activities, and the great career consultants. We look forward to continuing this fruitful collaboration!
